A project over two years in the making, the Whistler SG+ is the first pair I’ve ever created that went from concept to final product. There are three things I kept in mind when designing these soccer cleats: functionality, comfort, and style. While a dunk sole may not be practical, the cleats are bolted into the soles and are fully functional. The laces are covered with a supple tumbled vinyl for a clean strike to the ball. The insoles were also outfitted with Nike+ capabilities and Zoom Air. To receive a locked-down feel to keep the foot from moving within the cleat, the tongue is lined with a micro suede and strapped down by woven elastic. Also, the heel is double-layered with memory foam to avoid blisters and to give a secure feeling on the ankle while maximizing comfort. The upper is kept fresh and stylish with a clash of black patent and a patent print vinyl on the toe and heel against a matte black tumbled vinyl with contrast neon stitching and offsetting neon swooshes on the medial sides. Topped off with red accents including a red patent tongue. Made for Clash of the Customizers I.
